Gansbaai Crayfish Festival
Date: 19 April 2014
The True Spirit of Gansbaai
The Gansbaai Kreef Derby is a yearly event held on Easter Saturday. This festival was born with the tradition where fishermen went out, caught Crayfish and Snoek, whereafter it was weighed in at the Festival and bought from the fishermen.
There was also competitions for the biggest crayfish, heaviest catch, etc. With all the restrictions today, this tradition ceased to exist, but visitors can still enjoy delicious crayfish, abalone, calamari and other scrumptious food as well as the big attraction – the music!
This year history is being made with the WWF Wrestling taking place at the Gansbaai Kreef Derby! Please see our programme for more details.
